No CG, it’s about real visual magic.
Computer graphics are out of control nowadays. Just look at the quality in any recent blockbuster hit. The compositing and special effects simply blow your mind. Every year shows the movie industry step that much closer to really bluffing the human eye.
But isn't the simple knowledge of these visual feasts being "doctored" enough to tamper with our suspension of disbelief?
Perhaps it’s in reaction to this that more and more creations come out putting something resolutely “real” on the table. I’m seeing (and loving) a lot of this stuff. There’s real magic in attempting to “perform” a piece rather than doing it after the shoot, over the course of several weeks, in front of your screen scrubbing through effects, polishing your polygons, etc.
I will be dedicating this space to some of the pearls i stumble on as i wade through my everyday digital life. Feel free to contribute :)
